Even though the Video Sender has changed in size and shape over the years, it still consists of two main parts: a transmitter and a receiver. They can transmit and receive respectively on four channels in the 2.4GHz range. For communication to work, both units must be set to the same communication channel. The channels are designated A, B, C, and D.

Transmitter Inputs
The transmitter has three RCA inputs for composite video, left audio, and right audio.

Receiver Outputs
The receiver has three RCA outputs for composite video, left audio, and right audio. In addition, the receiver has a coaxial cable connection to output to a cable/antenna connection on your TV or VCR, and a selection switch to set the output to channel 3 or 4 (similar to how a VCR outputs to a TV). Note: Some versions of the Video Receiver sold with camera systems have only one channel of audio, or no audio capability at all.

X10 cameras fall under two main categories: Hardwired and Wireless.

Hardwired Cameras
These cameras are very similar to their wireless cousins, but they are smaller since they do not include a transmitter. Depending on the type, these cameras will have various lengths of cable for connection to a power supply and a TV/VCR. These cameras can be connected directly to a TV or monitor; or they can be connected to an X10 Video Sender for wireless transmission to a Video Receiver connected to a remote TV or monitor.

Wireless Cameras
These cameras are the result of merging the first version of our camera with the Video Transmitter. The transmitter is housed in the base of the unit and the camera is mounted on an adjustable arm. The transmission selection switch (for channels A, B, C, and D) is housed in the base, underneath the small rubber plug located near the camera arm.
