Endangered Species: Salmon Spawn out of Season! We use X10's products to simulate sunrise and sunset and alter the photoperiod for salmon reared in tanks at our lab. By altering the photoperiod (light:dark hours) we can get salmon to spawn out of season, early, or late. This helps in research on the young salmon which would be limited to only a short season otherwise. We also plan to use X10's to control aspects of several of our water treatment systems (change valves, turn on pumps/heaters etc.).
