What is RSS?
Why use RSS? How do I get it? What else can I do with RSS? |
What is RSS? RSS, which stands for Really
Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary, is an XML-based format that allows for
simple content distribution. Most major companies and news sources now have RSS
feeds.
Instead of clicking from site to site, RSS allows you
to view simple headlines, and choose whether or not to open the links. You get
the latest headlines, deals, and even audio and video files all in one place
the minute they are published. You can choose exactly what information you
want, and how you want to view it. It is basically a free, online
news-ticker.
With X10's RSS feed, you get the most current updates
on company news and sale prices!

Why Use RSS? RSS
is quickly becoming a popular medium for receiving news and other information
online.
Here are some of the benefits:
- You choose what information you want to subscribe
to. That means NO SPAM, no sifting through web sites to find what you want, and
no wasted time. You get all of the information you're interested in all in one
place! And you can unsubscribe to any feed at any time with just the click of
your mouse.
- You don't need to give out your e-mail address to
subscribe to an RSS feed! That means less junk mail, and no searching through
unwanted messages to find the ones you want in your e-mail account. That also
means no threat of computer viruses!
- With X10's RSS feed, you get all of the latest
deals as soon as they are published, meaning you won't miss out on anything,
and you can be one of the few to get your hands on limited-quantity deals!
- Many RSS readers even allow you to set up a filter,
so you only view the headlines you want. For example, if you only want to view
NightWatch Surveillance Cameras, you can enter it in as a key word, and only
the deals including NightWatch Surveillance Cameras included will appear.
- Similar to e-mail, you get to view the headline,
then choose whether or not you want to read on. However, you don't have to sift
through unsolicited headlines, because there won't be any.
- RSS is extremely simple to use, and
FREE!
