I enter my order number to register the program, but it doesn't work. What do I do?
Why can't I register WebView/MultiView?

In the registration screen you need to enter your product registration code. For almost all users this will be your order number with a "-1" added to the end of it. Make sure you enter the whole order number, including extensions, if any, like "-AB123" and then the "-1". Also make sure you are using the order number for the order that WebView or MultiView was on.

How do I access my picture from another computer using WebView?

There are two parts to sharing pictures using WebView. First, you need to start the WebView server on the computer where the images are captured. To do this, connect to the Internet, then run WebView and click on the "Start" button. This will connect to the MultiView Web Service on X10.com. Write down the 10 digit user key that appears in the WebView program.

To get the pictures from the remote computer, connect to the Internet, open your web browser and go to http://multiview.x10.com. Then enter the 10-digit ID and the password, if you set one on the server. This will connect you to your WebView server and show you the most recent four images. You can select older images by clicking on "View History" and selecting different times.

When I try to get my images, I get the error "Error Occured: Can't connect socket: Connection refused". What do I do?
I can't get to my images online. Help!

The most common reason for being unable to access images online is that the WebView server you are trying to connect to is not started, or has lost connection to the MultiView Web Service. If you can access the server, try stopping and then starting the server. If you enter the 10-digit key and your password, and the MultiView Web Service brings up the password screen again, then the password you entered is not correct. Check with the server PC (you may need to change the password again) and try again.

Will WebView work with my firewall or proxy server? How?

WebView will work through a firewall or proxy server. If you have closed ports for security, you can designate a port for the WebView server to use. Click on the "Settings" button in WebView and go to the "Advanced" tab in the settings dialog. Under "Internet Address" select "Fixed" under IP Port Number and enter the port you want to use. Make sure that you open this port up for traffic in and out on your firewall or proxy server. That's all there is to it.

Where does MultiView save my pictures? How can I access them?

By default, MultiView will save pictures in the "My Images" folder off the main directory of the hard drive where MultiView is installed "C:\My Images", for example, will be the location for most people. You can look access the images using the Windows Explorer, or from "My Computer" on your desktop. The images are stored in sub-folders by month, and are in the JPG format. You can copy them from there, send them in e-mail, or open them up in a photo editor.

Why don't I get a picture in MultiView?

There are several factors that can affect this. The most important is the correct installation of the drivers for the X10 USB Video Capture Adapter (model VA11A).Check in the Windows Device Manager (Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Device Manager) under "Image Capture Devices." There should be a listing for X10 VA11A, and it should be working properly -- no exclamation mark, question mark or red "X" icons in from of the device listing. If this is the case, try disconnecting the USB Adapter, re-starting your computer and connecting the adapter before running MultiView. This should solve the problem.

If you don't have the correct lising in Device Manager, you should uninstall MultiView and then reinstall it. It's important that when the installation software prompts you to connect the USB Video Capture Adapter that you do so before pressing OK or next. When you connect the USB Adapter, a new window should open that installs the drivers. If it doesn't, and you've never used a USB device on your PC before, you should contact your PC's technical support for help in getting the USB ports working.

Important note for Windows 98 users: If Windows asks you to insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM when loading the drivers for the X10 USB Video Capture Adapter, you must insert this disk for the installation to work. If you don't install the requested files, MultiView may not work. If you skipped files during installation, unplug the VA11A and reinstall the software.

What is the average file size for the JPEG images that are saved?

Saved images vary in size, typically 10KB to 30KB.

When I start MultiView, it freezes on the splash screen and I receive a message that states ERROR!

That message can indicate one of two things:

The first would be that your drivers are not installed correctly. Take a look in your device manager and on a Windows 95/98/ME and 2000 system you should see the X10 VA11A loaded up under Imaging Devices and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. On a Windows XP system, you should see the X10 VA11A under Imaging devices and the Intel PC Camera Pro under your Universal Serial Bus Controller heading. If they are not present there, refer to the USB troubleshooting device guide.

The second would be that you have an incorrect video capture device chosen. Click past that error and your software should start. Click on the settings button and select the video input tab. In that section you want to make sure that the VA11A is selected in the drop-down box. If anything else is selected, that is why you are receiving that error.
