Lola Music System
Frequently Asked Questions

How come when I run Lola there's no music listed anywhere?

If there's no music listed in Lola, you probably need to run the Media Manager. The Media Manager finds the music on your computer, reads the song information, and tells Lola what music you have to play.

Run the Media Manager from the Start Menu by going to "Programs" then "Lola" and clicking "Media Manager." When it opens, click "Scan Computer for Media" to start finding music. When the scan is complete you should have music in Lola.

I can't get Lola to show up on my TV, what do I do?

If you have a Lola wireless kit, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your Wireless Video Receiver is connected to power and turned On.

  2. Select the appropriate video input on your TV. Usually you can select the input mode by pressing the VIDEO or INPUT button on the remote control. You might also have to change the TV to Channel 0 or 2, and then use Channel Down to change video inputs. See your TV's owner's manual if you still aren't sure how to change the video source.
  3. Make sure your Lola transmitter is connected to power and turned on.
  4. Follow the setup instructions again, and check all of the connections you make.
  5. Make sure that the ABCD switches on the bottom of the transmitter and the bottom of the wireless video receiver are set to the same letter.

If you are using the Lola Direct Connect Kit, follow these steps:

  2. Check that your video card's video output is turned on. Open the Windows Control Panel, go to the Settings tab, and look for the output settings -- usually under "Advanced." See your video card support for more help.
  3. Follow the setup instructions again, and check all of the connections you make.

When I play music in Lola, it's too quiet even though I have used the remote to turn up the volume. What should I try?

When you use the remote to control Lola's volume, you are only adjusting the volume in the Lola media player. You also need to check the master volume on your computer, and the volume on the TV or Stereo where you are listening to Lola.

To find your computer's master volume, open Control Panel from the Windows Start Menu and choose Sounds. Adjust the volume there so that it's in the middle and not muted. You might also have a volume control icon in your System Tray.

If that doesn't solve the problem, try turning up the volume on the TV or Stereo where you listen to Lola.

Why won't my Lola remote control work?

Several things could cause this. Try the following:

  1. Press the PC button on the Lola Remote.
  2. Check the USB cable on the Receiver is connected to your computer.
  3. Make sure the tray icon is present in the Windows task bar. If it isn’t, run Lola from the Windows Start button, or desktop shortcut.
  4. Press the Power button on the remote to launch Lola.
  5. Replace the Remote’s batteries

The sound isn't clear on when I use my Lola wireless kit. How do I fix it?

First, adjust the antennas on the video receiver and the Lola transmitter so that they point towards each other. The side of the camera’s antenna with the dot on it should face the side of the receiver’s antenna marked with four squares. You can also try moving the video receiver itself to another location near the TV or stereo. Sometimes moving it just a foot can make a big difference.

If the sound still doesn’t improve after adjusting the antennas and receiver position, try changing the channels on the transmitter and video receiver. Change the setting on both the transmitter and video receiver, making sure they are set to the same letter (A, B, C, or D). Try different letter settings to see if the picture improves.

You may still have trouble getting a clear picture if there is something in the area using the same frequencies as Lola. The following things can interfere with the camera’s transmission: 2.4 gigahertz cordless phones, wireless networks, baby monitors, and microwave ovens. If you have any of these, turn them off to see if the problem goes away.

If your camera’s picture has been fine and suddenly becomes distorted or fuzzy, look for new things in your house that might be causing interference.
