X10 Camera Accessories

How long do the batteries last in the Battery Pack? Approximately four hours.

Why is my light flashing/turning on at night? It sounds like you are experiencing the dawn/dusk feature of the Hawkeye. When light is detected, the Hawkeye transmits the off command for the unit code one higher than the one you programmed to activate when motion is detected. When it detects no light, it transmits the on command. Your solution is to stagger the codes you use or you can disable the dawn/dusk feature. To disable it, open the case and cover the component that has the red squiggly line with electrician's tape. This will put the device in permanent darkness.

My Motion Sensor is always B2, but works only A1. The unit seems to be indicating B2, but the second flash is really the unit telling you it didn't change anything. Here is a break down of what is happening: When you press and hold the button, the unit flickers rapidly. This is the unit sending out the on or off command, depending on whether you pressed House or Unit. A few seconds of holding down the button, and the light will flash once. This is the unit telling you two things - it is set to A (if you pressed House) or 1 (if you pressed Unit), and it is ready to begin programming. If you let go and do not press anything (or continue to hold down the button) then it will flash again. This will be to tell you it is still on A (or 1), and that it is done with programming. The trick is to let up after that first solid flash. Let up and then begin programming immediately.

How do I set the Time Delay on my MS13A/MS14A? Press the House/On button once. The red LED should flash. Press and hold the Unit/Off button. The green LED turns on. 3 seconds later the red LED reports its delay setting as follows:

  • 1 blink for 1 minute.
  • 2 blinks for 2 minutes.
  • 3 blinks for 4 minutes.
  • 4 blinks for 8 minutes.
  • 5 blinks for 16 minutes.
  • 6 blinks for 32 minutes.
  • 7 blinks for 64 minutes.
  • 8 blinks for 128 minutes.
  • 9 blinks for 256 minutes.
To change this, Press the House/On button once. The red LED will flash. Press and hold the Unit/Off button. The green LED turns on. 3 seconds later the red LED reports its delay setting. Release and immediately press the Unit/Off button the number of times for the delay you want. Hold the button pressed for 3 seconds on the last press. The red LED then reports the setting with the appropriate number of blinks as above. Release the button.

My Motion Sensor triggers when there is no motion. Could the heat from the sun be triggering it? Potentially, yes. Direct or reflected sunlight could falsely trigger the Motion Sensor. Likewise, an object within the Motion Sensor's view that is heated by the sun, or is itself heated somehow (i.e., car engine, heat vent) could generate false activation. It is best to mount the Motion Sensors in such a manner that they are looking slightly downward.

I've configured the CR12A but it does not switch the cameras automatically. It only works each time I press the UP or DOWN buttons. Is the remote broken? No, the remote is not broken. The reference to switching automatically means the remote keeps track of which camera to turn on next when the UP or DOWN button is pressed. The use of the word automatically does not mean that the remote will switch to the next camera after a certain amount of time (i.e. every 5 seconds).

Can I change the five minute recording time? No, the recording time is fixed.

Do I have to attach all three IR emitters to my VCR? No, only one is necessary.

Why won't the VCR Commander learn the commands from my remote? There are two main reasons the VCR Commander will not learn an IR command.

1.       The remote is held too far from the IR detector on the VCR Commander. The remote's emitter should be held in a straight line 1 - 2 inches away from the detector, directly level with it.

2.       The batteries in the remote being learned are weak. As the current provided by the batteries fluctuates, so does the IR signal. The VCR Commander is designed to reject such signals, even if the remote appears to operate the VCR properly.

Where should the VCR Commander's IR emitters be positioned on my VCR? Position one of the emitters in front and slightly to the side of the IR detector on your VCR.
