How do I put music on my home computer?

If you've never put music on your computer before, now's the time to start! It's easy, it's fun, and with Lola your computer will become a jukebox for your whole house.

What do I need?
You have everything you need to copy your CDs into your computer right now. If you have Windows Media Player or RealOne Player, you don't need any other programs. Windows Media Player and RealOne get your album information right over the Internet, too, so there's no typing to do!

You also need to have some free space on your computer. How much does it take? Well, about 50 megabytes per album. That means that you can fit about 350 CDs in 20 gigabytes of hard disk space. The more space you have on your computer, the more CDs you can copy!

How long will it take?
The amount of time you have to spend to get all of your CDs into your computer depends on how much music you have and how fast the CD-ROM drive on your computer is. On average it takes about 5 minutes to copy a CD to your computer.

The easiest way to get started is to just copy a couple whenever you have some free time. Since you can do other things while a copying a CD, you'll have all of your music done before you know it!

How do I do it?
Copying CDs into your computer is easy. Just pick which program you want to use, and we'll show you step by step how it works.

I have Windows Media Player 9.

I have RealOne Player.

Windows Media Player 9

To get start copying music to your computer, run Windows Media Player. Click the button on the left side of the window to go to the "Copy from CD" screen.

Put the music CD you want to copy into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Windows Media Player will automatically start copying the CD.

While it's copying your CD, Windows Media Player looks up your CD's information over the Internet. All you have to do is wait for the CD to finish -- Windows Media Player will eject the CD so you can put in another one to copy. You'll have your whole music collection on your computer in no time!

RealOne Player

To get start copying music to your computer, run RealOne Player. Then, put a music CD in your computer's CD-ROM drive. Real Player will ask if you want to save the CD on your computer. Click "Yes" and you're on your way.

You can watch the Real Player save your CD in the CD window. You'll get an idea of how long it's going to take by watching how long it takes to do each song.

While your CD is being copied, click the "Get CD Info" button at the bottom of the window and choose "Get CD Info" from the menu that opens. This will get your CD's information from the Internet. Now all you have to do is wait for Real to finish copying!

When your CD is done being saved, click "Eject" to take it out of your CD-ROM drive. Whenever you're ready, just put another CD in and start copying. You'll have your whole music collection on your computer in no time!

How does Lola connect my PC with my TV & Sound System?
Lola uses either a 20 foot cable or a 2.4GHz wireless transmitter and receiver to connect your PC with your TV and Sound System. If your computer is located less than 20 feet from your TV and Sound System, the direct wired option may be best for you. When your computer is located in a different room or on a different floor, the wireless option is the way to go.

Lola Direct Connect - Wired Option The Lola wired option includes a 20ft audio/video cable and the necessary adapters to connect to your computer's audio outputs and either an S-Video or Composite Video output. The other end of the cable connects to the video input of your TV and the audio inputs of your sound system. If your computer does not have an S-Video or Composite Video output, you will need to use the Lola Wireless VGA system.

Can I use Lola if I don't have a separate sound system or TV?
Yes. If you've already upgraded your computer speakers or don't have a separate sound system of TV, Lola can still greatly enhance your music experience. The Lola remote will still allow you instant access to your whole music library on your computer. And, the On-Screen menus will appear on your computer screen to make it easy to see and select all your music from across the room.

Will Lola play music I've downloaded from the Internet?
Absolutely! This is where Lola really shines. Lola knows all about the latest music file formats like MP3, Real Audio, WAV, or Windows Media. All of that time spent downloading music will really pay off when you're able to access it all through your TV's On-Screen menus and hear it all at the full-power of your best sound system.

What about playlists? Will Lola let me import, create and edit my playlists?
Yes, Lola loves your playlists! The Lola Media Manager will import all of your existing playlists. Then, all you do to access them is click the "Playlist" button on the Lola remote. New playlists can be created or modified using the remote and the on-screen TV menus or by using the Lola Media Manager on your computer.

Does the Lola Remote use IR (Infra Red) or RF (Radio Frequency)?
Actually, the Lola Remote uses both IR and RF. It sends signals to your computer to control the Lola software using RF so that it can be used in any room of your house, up to 100 feet away. The RF signal is also used to control other X10 devices in your home like lights or appliances.

For all of your other home entertainment equipment (TV, Stereo, Cable, etc.), the Lola Remote uses IR. The Lola remote will even learn IR commands from any new equipment you purchase.

Does the Lola Remote control other components?
You Bet! The Lola Remote is a universal remote control that has been pre-programmed to work with a wide range of home entertainment equipment such as TVs, VCRs, Cable Boxes, Stereo Receivers, and more. Plus, the Lola remote will learn IR commands from any equipment that is not in its library. You can even program buttons for special tasks like changing your TV's video source.

Does the Lola Remote control X10 devices?
Absolutely! The Lola remote has an X10 button right up top so you can control all of your X10 devices. This way, you can change your lighting to match the mood of your music all with the same remote!
