• Plug your room lamps into lamp modules - one is the romance one, the other are the "regular" lamps.
• Plug a radio into the Wireless Link Module™ and it up to play with your favorite music.
• Plug the FireCracker computer interface into a serial port on your PC, and install the software.
• Using FireCracker software, assign each lamp its own house code button on the virtual PalmPad™. Another button will be reserved for the radio.
• Arrange this to be a secret signal with your sweetheart.

Curtis' kids are young enough that they go to bed earlier than their parents -- but old enough to try to stay up later than they should. He has the outdoor lights set as a signal -- when they flicker twice, the kids know it is time to come in for play. At bedtime, the standing lamps in both kids' rooms are plugged into X10 lamp modules -- with one click of his mouse, Curtis can call "Lights Out" and there's no question about whether it is bedtime.

Curtis also will use FireCracker to turn off the kids' boom boxes, which they sometimes forget to turn off.

• Plug the FireCracker computer interface into a serial port on your PC, and install the software.

• Warn the kids that Dad means it when he says 7 p.m. is their bedtime.

• Assign the sprinkler to a house code on your virtual PalmPad™interface.

• Turn sprinklers off and on as necessary. Check the weather forecast.
