How It Works

ActiveHome KitActiveHome is a 6 Piece Home Automation Kit that allows to simply and easily control all the lights and appliances in your home.  To show you how easy it is to control a lamp and a coffee machine follow the steps below (right out of the box)

1. Plug the included Transceiver Module into any wall outlet. This allows ActiveHome to communicate through your existing house wiring!

Lamp Module LM465Plug module In 2. Plug the included Lamp Module into any wall outlet and set the Lamp Module to any house code (Example: Set the Top dial to 1, the bottom to A)
3. Now plug a nearby lamp into the lamp module (right). This lamp will now have a house code of A1

4. With the included Ultimate UltimateREMOTE (provides control of TV, VCR and lights and appliances) push the X10 SuperKEY,  then push "Button 1." The light associated with A1 turns on! Now hit Volume down or up to dim and brighten the lamp, or hit channel up or down to turn it on or off! Push the TV button and instantly switch from controlling your lights to controlling the TV!

5. To control the coffee machine, return to step 2 (above). Use an Appliance Module instead of an Lamp Module. Plug the coffee machine into the appliance module. Set the appliance module to a new House Code. For example use: A2  Now push the X10 SuperKEY,  then push "Button 2" The coffee machine associated with A2 turns on!

You can control up to 256 lamps and appliances with ActiveHome.  For many more exciting possibilities use the ActiveHome software (see below)

Use ActiveHome With your Computer 6. Now you can use the software to group actions together as an event or Macro.  You can also use the software to easily program lights, appliance, or macros to come on at pre-selected times. ActiveHome Motion Sensor You can use the dusk/dawn feature to have lights come on when it gets dark.  You can even program a "welcome home" macro to start as soon as you walk in the door, all based on a tiny wireless motion sensor that you can stick to any wall! For example, one event may include 3 lights, 1 radio and 1 Fan. You can group the event under the House code A3.  Using your remote, hit the X10 Key, hit the number 3 button and your event starts!

6. Return to X10.com and upgrade your system with all sorts of specialty modules to fit any application you may have! Some of the great upgrade modules are the Socket Rocket (shown to right) that fits in any screw-in lamp socket.  You can also get our Hawkeye Motion Sensor, Palm Pad, Touch Tone Controller (phone control), Thermostat Controller and a ton of other great products from X10!
