X10 Ninja Pan 'n Tilt
Seattle-based X10
Wireless Technology -- perhaps best known by Web surfers for
pop-up ads for its color wireless cameras -- has released a kit
that allows a color wireless camera to be moved by remote
control. The Ninja Pan 'n Tilt wireless camera kit includes a
lot of stuff (four separate boxes for the XCam2 camera, robotic
base, power supplies, wireless transmitter, PC receiver, and USB
video capture adapter) and, well, lots of wires. But the camera
and robotic base can be placed up to 100 feet away from a PC or
TV, wirelessly looking around by a remote with the results
showing up on the PC screen (or on a TV or VCR), or even on a
password-protected Web site. Software installation for a PC
requires an Internet connection; not ideal, but workable. And
the camera kit generally works as advertised (with occasional
interference if you have other 2.4 GHz wireless devices). X10
