X10.com® Develops EagleEYE™ Motion Sensor

Wired Home leader adds outdoor capability to newest security tool

Seattle — September 23, 1999 —X10.com’s (www.x10.com/pressroom27.htm) new EagleEYE Motion Sensor is the only Wired Home tool available to secure or monitor both the inside and outside of a home wirelessly without spending thousands of dollars on the installation and monitoring fees normally associated with a traditional security system.

The EagleEye Motion Sensor is designed to withstand water and bad weather and works any time of the day or night, in both dark and light conditions. Based on the Hawkeye II Motion SensorÔ , the EagleEYE continues the X10 tradition of developing an entire do-it-yourself solution for protecting and monitoring your home that doesn’t require expensive equipment, wiring, or monitoring fees. The EagleEYE Motion Sensor works with any X10 wireless transceiver module to make your home look lived-in while away, scare off a prowler, or illuminate a dark room or hallway remotely without even having to touch a button.

The EagleEYE Motion Sensor can be easily programmed to turn on lights when you enter a room, and as long as you keep moving; the lights will stay on. Once you stop moving, the lights will turn off after a pre-selected amount of time. You can set the EagleEYE to turn on lights for only 60 seconds or as long as three hours. Imagine how great it would be to remotely control almost anything electrical in your home simply by walking past one or a number of EagleEYE’s programmed to send commands to lights and appliances.

In addition to triggering individual functions by responding to motion and changing light, the EagleEYE Motion Sensor works together with X10.com’s flagship home control kit known as ActiveHomeÔ to start an entire sequence of events called macros. Walk into a room and immediately your favorite CD is playing and the lights have been automatically dimmed for the evening. Leave the room and the stereo shuts off and the room goes dark except for a single security lamp.

"The EagleEYE Motion Sensor is one of the greatest developments in the do-it-yourself security market in a long time," said Alex Peder, president X10 (USA) retail sales division. "We challenge everyone to experience the comfort and convenience of creating your own way to protect and monitor your home. We believe the days of people being forced to purchase a prepackaged security system are quickly coming to an end now that everyone can create their own Wired Home for thousands of dollars less than a traditional solution."
