| X10.com to Computer Enthusiasts Everywhere: Help Us Define Wired Home Revolution
Seattle September 8, 1999 X10.com, (www.x10.com/pressroom19.htm) in support of National Techies Day October 5th, is considering providing computer enthusiasts everywhere the chance to help the company solidify its leadership position and gain a permanent presence in mainstream computer press and consumer trade publications. The company is examining whether or not to conduct a promotion designed to gather input on the impact of their current definition known as the Wired Home and examine the possibility of making changes to take advantage of a steady increase in press coverage. For more than 20 years, X10 has created simple, low-cost, do-it-yourself home control, entertainment, and security products. The Wired Home allows all of the devices in your home to work together simultaneously to control lights and appliances, transmit DVD movies from your PC to a TV, listen to MP3 tracks on your stereo, and even watch live audio and video transmitted by a mini-color video camera up to 100 feet away. These are only some of the things that are possible. X10.com wants to eliminate the confusion in the minds of consumers concerning how they can benefit by creating a 21st century Wired Home. The confusion stems from a real lack of definition by the editorial community on a number of topics in this area such as home networking, smart homes, digital homes, and intelligent homes. " X10.com is on the verge of leading one of the hottest new markets in a long time," said Alex Peder, President X10 (USA) retail sales division. " It only makes sense for us to look at timing our efforts to bring the Wired Home into the mainstream press permanently to coincide with National Techies Day."
