There's a stampede this year among consumer electronics companies to introduce products in the new field of home entertainment networking -- moving music, video and pictures from personal computers to stereos and televisions, as well as connecting TVs and stereos directly to the Internet. Here's a look at some of the first-generation home networking gear. Unless otherwise noted, products are available now.

Company: BroadQ (www.broadq.com)

Product/Price: QCast Tuner, $49

Details: Software for Sony PlayStation2 that connects the videogame console to wired

Ethernet or wireless Wi-Fi network; requires $49 PlayStation2 network adapter.

Company: Cd3o (www.cd3o.com)

Product/Price: c100 Network MP3 Player, $149

Details: Connects to Ethernet network for sharing audio from a PC to a stereo; c200 for $199 connects through Wi-Fi.

Company: Gloolabs (www.gloolabs.com)

Product/Price: HomePod, $199

Details: Due in June, the HomePod connects via Wi-Fi and has a small LCD screen for selecting music.

Company: GoVideo (www.govideo.com)

Product/Price: D2730 Networked DVD Player, $299

Details: Due in May, the D2730 streams music, still pictures and video through a built-in Ethernet connection or optional Wi-Fi link.

Company: Hewlett-Packard (www.hp.com/go/digitalmediareceiver)

Product/Price: en5000 Digital Media Receiver, $199

Details: Moves music and still pictures via Ethernet from a Windows PC to a television or stereo; ew5000 using Wi-Fi costs $299.

Product/Price: Telly 1000 Home Entertainment Server, $899

Details: With a built-in DVD player and 80-gigabyte hard drive, the Telly plays movies and stores music as well as browsing the Web through a Ethernet connection.

Product/Price: Simplefi Wireless Digital Audio Receiver, $329

Details: Transfers stored music and some Internet radio from a Windows PC using the Home RF wireless networking standard.

Product/Price: Net-Tune NC-500 Network Audio Receiver, $400

Details: Plays music stored on a PC as well as Internet radio through an Ethernet connection.

Company: Polaroid Electronics (www.polaroidelectronics.com)

Product/Price: DVR-0700 DVD Digital Recorder, $349

Details: Due in August, the DVR-0700 will show streaming Internet video on TV through an Ethernet connection.

Company: Prismiq (www.prismiq.com)

Product/Price: MediaPlayer, $249

Details: Plays video and music as well as displaying pictures and Web pages through an Ethernet connection.

Company: RCA (www.rca.com)

Product/Price: Lyra Wireless RD900W, $99

Details: Shares stored music and some Internet radio through a wireless transmitter attached to a PC and a wireless receiver attached to a stereo.

Company: Slim Devices (www.slimp3.com)

Product/Price: SliMP3, $229

Details: Works with Windows, Macintosh and Linux PCs to share music through an Ethernet connection.

Product/Price: VAIO RoomLink Network Media Receiver, $199

Details: Through an Ethernet connection or optional wireless adapter, receives music, pictures and broadcast-quality video; only works with newer Sony PCs.

Company: TerraDigital Systems (www.terraplayer.com)

Product/Price: TerraPlayer CR-100, $649

Details: Due in June, the CR-100 has a large color LCD screen so users can select music without a TV.

Company: TiVo (www.tivo.com)

Product/Price: Home Media Option, $99

Details: Software that lets Tivo's Series 2 digital video recorders pull music and pictures off a PC, as well as transfer recorded TV shows between TiVo units.

Company: X10 Wireless Technology (www.x10.com)

Product/Price: Lola Wireless VGA, $99

Details: A wireless transmitter and receiver, with hand-held remote, for moving music from a PC to a TV or stereo.

Company: Yamaha (www.yamaha.com/yec/musiccast)

Product/Price: MusicCast, $2,800

Details: Due in June, the MCX-1000 server stores music on an 80-gigabyte hard drive and transmits to the MCX-A10 client in another room; extra clients are $600 each.
