The phrase 'the ends justifies the means' has never applied more to wireless technology than with X-10's new MP3 Anywhere product. Using a 2.4 GHz wireless transmitter, the MP3 Anywhere allows you to play MP3's from your computer to any room in your house.

Geared towards MP3 users, the MP3 Anywhere comes with everything you need to control your computer from any room. Using a wireless remote/mouse, the MP3 Anywhere allows full integration with most popular MP3 players.

The installation of this puppy is a piece of cake. Simply plug in the X-10 receiver to your stereo, the X-10 transmitter to your sound card, and away you go.

The kit comes with two items that make it almost irresistible. The first is a wireless remote/mouse that has a range of about 100 feet, and the second, some custom plug-ins for most major MP3 players.

Using the included MP3 plug-ins and the wireless mouse I was able to walk from room to room in my house effortlessly switching songs and playlists.

The remote/mouse has one pitfall; it works a little too well. When I was walking around utilizing the 'remote' part of it, I accidentally touched some of the 'mouse' parts. It isn't a big deal, but when I got back to my computer I had launched about five different applications. (Seriously)

Although X-10 maybe the first company to offer a MP3 geared wireless product like this, they won't be the last. Their initiative shows, but so do their flaws. The device comes with little documentation, and ours lacked a plug to convert from a 1/8'' plug to dual RCA. (Radio Shack $2.99) Aside from those few easily correctable problems, this product is great for users who have high quality stereos and want to play music through them without loss of quality.

Company Hype:
Unleash the power of MP3 the way it was meant to be heard -- on your finest speakers, in the best listening room in the house. Recline in your favorite easy chair, far away from your computer -- and enjoy streaming broadcasts from around the world, a custom-created MP3 CD, or exclusive MP3 music releases you can't get anywhere but on the Internet. Why be tied to your computer room when you could have MP3 Anywhere?
