-- Camp Wekandu: Kids at Camp Wekandu get a treat this month. At Technology Night July 12, these kids get to test some of the latest computer products and get to take home some samples.

Camp Wekandu is an annual week-long event for kids who suffer from juvenile arthritis or severe rheumatic conditions. This year, every child will get a free Active Home, a software/hardware product that lets a computer turn electrical appliances turn on or off, says Jeff Denenholz, public relations director for X10.com in Seattle.

For these kids, applications could be turning on a light when it's time to get up or turning down an electric blanket at a selected time, says Amy Wenz, an occupational therapist at Children's Hospital who works at the annual week-long day camp at Camp Joy in Warren County. ''We want these kids to have as much independent function as possible.''
