Have you ever wondered whos stopped by while
you werent home? Or were you expecting someone, but couldnt wait
around, Like
a package from UPS or FedEx? Did the cable company say that they would be sending someone
by, and they didnt show when they were supposed to? How can you know when he showed
up? And if you need to, can you prove it?
Now you can. Because now you can have XRay Vision email you as soon as
someone comes to the door. That way you will know when they got there, who they are, and
you can see them in real time while youre away at work. Sound too good to be true?
Well its not really. And its all very simple to set up. Heres how it
works.
The tools youre going to need for this are the XCam2 (VK49AS) or XCam2 WideEye (XX13A), XRay Vision
(VK50A), an ISP, and a front door. Well show you two ways, to connect, depending on
your Internet connection (i.e. DSL or modem connection).
Lets start with the camera. Mount the camera just about anywhere
that will provide you with a decent view of the door, and the porch. If you live in an
apartment, then any place you can get a decent view of the door and the immediate
surroundings.
Next, well setup XRay Vision. The first thing youre going
to need to do is setup and run XRay Vision. For this article, we'll assume that XRay
Vision is already installed and working on your PC.

In order to make sure you catch every time someone comes to your door,
you should set XRay Vision to capture images fairly frequently. To do this, right click on
the XRay Vision interface with your mouse to bring up the menu. Go to Settings and then
Preferences. Change the "Save Picture Every (sec)" setting to something under 20
seconds to ensure that XRay Vision captures everything.
While you are in the Preferences menu, you can also set XRay Vision to
mark the areas in the images where motion has occurred. Just check the "Mark
Motion" box to do this.
Once the motion capture is set up, you need to set up how XRay Vision
will send you e-mail. From the pop-up menu, choose Settings then Internet & Dial-Up
Settings. Select the "Email" tab and enter the e-mail information the
address you want to send to, etc. you want to use. If you are using a modem to
connect to the Internet you should also enter your dial-up settings under the
"Connection" tab.

Now open the pop-up menu again and go to Settings and Server Events.
Choose the "Email." In this window youll tell XRay Vision when to send you
images by e-mail. Under "Events" check the "When detecting motion"
box. This will tell XRay Vision to email you when it senses motion. So if youre
expecting a package from UPS or FedEx, or youre wanting to know when the cable guy
finally showed up, as soon as they move toward the door, this will automatically notify
you by sending you email.

And thats it. Youre done. Now when youre at work, youre still
at home. Who says you cant be two places at one time. This is the 21st
century, and youre using XRay Vision.
