Action! Take Two!
So you have a special event, and you would really love to webcast it, and get it on tape. The first thing you do is to start looking into
renting the necessary equipment. And the more you look, the more the dollars go up. Before you know it, youre looking at something the size of the national debt just to videotape a special event.
Charles Worley works with young people in his hometown as a volunteer, tutoring
science, math, and video production. He also runs a website that he uses to showcase special events
in his community... like parades for instance. Charles decided to train four girls in the seventh
and eighth grades to webcast a local parade. Well, according to Charles, "folks got a little
skeptical." But during the parade, they had 1,800 hits from people checking to see if his
protégés could pull it off. And according to Charles, "We were hailed as
bringing the electronic age to the area."
So this year they did it again. But with the help of X10, and the XCam2. "I had purchased the Ultimate 3 Camera Deal,"
Charles says, "and I used this as the basis for this years production." Two cameras were
positioned on one side of the street, and one camera was positioned on the other side, across the
street. "We were able to switch views with ease." And continuing with Charles thought,
"As you know the wireless cameras also broadcast sound, so we didnt miss a thing."
Charles says that it was a huge success, and the feedback was very positive.
Everybody really liked the different views. "And this year we had more hits during the
parade."
So with a couple of huge successes under his belt, Charles is going to continue
on his winning streak. "In a few weeks we are going to broadcast a High School basketball game
on the web using the XCam2, and this spring we plan to put them on MARS."
Now were pretty sure that MARS is an acronym, not really the Red Planet, but
its good to know that hes reaching out to the stars… so to speak.
And we leave you with one last word from Charles. "X10 products fits in fine
with my motto: Youre only limited by your imagination."
You said it, Charles!
