Smile! Youre on Candid Camera!
Most of
us remember the show Candid Camera. Someone would set up an outlandish situation, and then they would hide cameras so that they could get the reaction of some poor, unsuspecting
dupe. Nothing was more fun for audiences all over the world than to watch some poor naive individual in a moment of complete confusion as they struggled to make sense out of some
crazy situation that they suddenly found themselves drawn into. And nothing made it funnier than knowing that they were completely unaware that they were being watched. People can be so funny when theyre just being themselves. Thats just what Gordon Roberts believes.
"Ive always enjoyed the TV show Candid Camera," Gordon says. "So using my XCam2 Ive been able to
recreate and capture on video some pretty hilarious situations."
Gordon likes to entertain, and rumor has it he throws some the of the best parties on the block. But his parties usually have a twist to them that most guests are
unaware of. For example, on one occasion he superglued a silver dollar coin onto one of the steps to his house. As his guests arrived, and saw the coin, they would reach down to
pick it up. But they wouldnt be able to get the coin off the steps. "Reactions were very funny," Gordon says. "Some of the guests were very determined to get
that dollar, and their reactions when they couldnt get it were hilarious. And I had it all on tape."
On another occasion, Gordon put a very small and undetectable rubber band around the sprayer in his kitchen sink, so that an unsuspecting guest, when they came up for a glass of water, would find themselves on the wet end of a shower. And sometimes, if there were people standing around talking at the time, depending on their proximity to the sprayer, they too would find themselves involved in the little shower. "Its more fun if there are more people around. The more the merrier."
Later on in the evening, once the games were over, and the guests were ready to settle down, Gordon would gather everyone together, turn on the television, and
bring out his "Candid" tape. As the tape rolled, the whole party could laugh at themselves and each other in their own version of Candid Camera. Needless to say, Gordons parties are the talk of the town. And theyre all on video thanks to the XCam2.
