Can I Play Too?

For some time
now, X10 customers have been using X10 equipment for a whole plethora of utilizations. Weve
seen everything from monitoring contestants while they drive around in a hearse, making sure that
the kids get home before their curfew, studying lava tubes under volcanoes, and tracking objects in
space to faking out fish so that they think its mating season. Its quite an impressive
list.
X10 equipment has also taught our customers so much about whats going on in
their homes and with their families while theyre either away, or simply not looking. Well,
heres another family that had the opportunity to learn a little more about one of their
family members who really doesnt say to much on his own. And what he does say usually
doesnt make sense. After all, hes a dog, the only thing he can do is bark.
Stevie Ray Webb of Austin Texas set up the XCam2
on their playscape so that they could keep an eye on the kids while they were playing. But they
learned something else that surprised them.
A playscape is a setup that includes monkey bars, a slide, a tire swing, and various
other gadgets that the kids can play and climb on. The favorite is usually the slide. It turns out,
though, their dog Taz likes to play too. One day while watching the kids at play outside, they caught
Taz heading up the ladder of the playscape to the loft just above the slide. Once he reached the top,
he lay down on the slide, pushed a little with his back paws, and down he went. Front paws first,
and the back paws trailing behind him. After all, why should the people be the only ones to have
all the fun?
Thats right, Taz considers himself one of the kids. He likes to slide too.
"We wanted to have a view of the kids on the playscape" Stevie said, "but we found
out what the family dog does while we arent looking!" Or at least when he suspects
theyre not looking. But he doesnt know about the XCam2 Video camera thats been
watching him play.
I suspect, that given the chance, Taz may quip… "Its a peoples
life."
