November 2, 2001 - We're happy to share this story with you, which we recently received in our inbox:
Many thanks to X10 and the XCam2 for bringing my dream home to me every day no matter where I am!
When we decided to build a log home, we didn't want to miss a thing. Unfortunately, we both work and being on the construction site to snap pictures was not possible for either of us. Already owners of many X10 gadgets the XCam2 was an obvious choice for us. But our story doesn't stop there!
Being a moderator of a fairly large Log Home list serve and having family and friends spread out to the four corners, we wanted to share our experience with all of them. The obvious choice: video streaming. So we hooked two XCam2s to two video capture cards, made a deal with our web host at www.teachout.com, and now we send a snapshot to our host's server every three to five seconds. He in turn serves out hundreds of streams every day of our log home being built live via the Internet.
One camera is now in the interior and the other keeps an eye on the exterior. Log on to vintage-delights.com and you can watch the Live Log Home Cam. We will swap them out via the web whenever the action moves from inside to outside.
We also save each snapshot and then create time-lapse video of the
action. Those too can be downloaded and viewed from our website. From
digging the basement to stacking the logs to building the fireplace, XCam2 has kept an eye on the action.
Our Live Log Home XCam2 shots have been viewed from the four corners of the United States, to Romania, Sweden, South Africa, and many other far away locations. They are veiwed by shut-in parents, old and new friends, and log home enthusiasts everywhere.
Thanks X10 for giving us a way to see our dream home being built!
Sincerely,
Marietta R. Walker
