No More Missing
Curfew
For anyone thats ever tried to raise teenagers, they know
that nothing can be more unnerving and downright frightening. Teens are constantly testing
the boundaries, pushing the limits, and seeing what they can get away with. That becomes
especially evident with things like curfews.
Blake Rice found the perfect solution. He was getting tired of waiting up
all night just to see if the kids got home on time, so he decided to give himself and his
wife a break. Blake has two teenagers, a seventeen-year-old son, and a fifteen-year-old
daughter. "The seventeen year old gets out more often than the fifteen year old for
obvious reasons" Blake says, "but from time to time well let the fifteen
year old out too." Or another way Blake put it was "Parolling them, on the
condition of good behavior."
To make sure that the kids are home on time, Blake set up two
XCam2s in conjunction with two EagleEye Motion Sensors. One XCam2 and EagleEye he
placed in the driveway, and the other combo he put just inside the front door. Now
theres no disputing when the kids get home. When the motion sensor detects motion,
it signals the family that their kids are home safe and sound. Just a little chime
gently wakes the parents, and they can check the clock and if all is well, turn over and
go back to bed. "And this way you can also monitor what your kids do outside before
they come in," Blake said.
And if he wanted, Blake could add the X10 VCR
Commander and set it up so when the kids got home, the motion sensor would then send a
signal to the VCR telling it to start recording. Then in the morning everythings on
tape. Some of the newer VCRs can also add a time stamp on the tape for even more
"hard" evidence.
Keeping kids honest is sometimes a challenge. Thats why X10 has become
an invaluable tool for worried parents. Its okay, well help you look after the family.
