The Masked
Invader!
What do you do about a thief that breaks into your house and vandalizes
it, but doesnt take anything? Could it be a vendetta? Could it be that the criminal
didnt find what he was looking for? But then what if it happens again? What could
that mean? Perhaps it could mean any number of things. But why would they pick the same
house twice if they didnt find anything the first time? Well, theres always a
way to figure it out. And thats just what Ruben Zuniga did.
Ruben had just such a problem. An intruder broke into his house, trashed
the place, and then left. But he didnt take anything. Once is disturbing enough,
but then it happened again. Thats what made it seem so much like a vendetta. If
the intruder wasnt after anything, then why would he create such a mess and then
leave empty handed?
"My alarm would sound," Ruben said, "but there was no sign
of a forced break-in." There was no sign of a break-in, but there was definitely the
aftermath of a break-in. Well, if the alarm couldnt stop the crook, then there was
going to be a need for a very different plan of action. So Ruben hooked up the XCam2 around the house, and prepared to get the perpetrator
on tape.
And it wasnt long before Ruben had what he was looking for. He had
his crook, caught in the act, and on videotape. And the criminal even had on a mask to
disguise himself. Nor was he aware that he was now being watched. But it wasnt
what you might think. No, it wasn't some guy in a ski mask, instead it was a raccoon.
Thats right. The little critter had been breaking into Rubens house and
looking for some sort of snack.
It was no vendetta at all, just a hungry raccoon that didnt
realize that he was trespassing. Thanks to X10, another crime is solved, and the
criminal is safely locked outside where he belongs.
