Entry 178:
We are going to hang a dummy in the tree with a walkie talkie stuffed inside of it. With a camera on the area we are going to hide in the darkened house and ask kids as they walk by if they are going to "just leave me hanging here". The camera will allow us to watch their response and react to it with further conversation. We are also going to put candy at the front door with a sign that says "Take one". If someone takes more than one we will use the dummy in the tree with the walkie talkie to yell, "Hey, the sign says one! Don't make me come down from here!" -- Tom Saelens
Entry 171:
I've set up macros so that when someone approaches my front door: 1. a sound machine with lightning and thunder start
2. the lights all turn out
3. several lighted figures go on and off in sequence
4. the lights inside the house come up and dim down again room by room as if someone is walking toward the front door with a lantern
5. then before we open the front door all goes back to normal. We also have a scream machine in the shed next to the house that comes on along with the a noisy electric power tool, while the lights are out. -- Paul Grundy
Entry 107:
I have a big yard on the side of my house that I decorate for Halloween. It's made up as a creepy scary graveyard. Lots of people come to see it, including local news crews. On Halloween night it's the best because we hide out there and let kids go in. Then we set off the fog, music and some of the movable props. People from the neighborhood look forward to it every year. I would use the X10 camera to watch when someone was out there so I could set everything off from inside. It would make it more creepy not knowing how the things were being set off because they wouldn't see anyone in the yard. It would also be used for security because last year they robbed everything the night before Halloween. -- Bonnie McDonald
