Randall was woken up in the middle of the night only to run outside
and find that the tires on his car, and his wifes car had been slashed. "Since
I have been deeply embroiled in an ongoing property dispute with a rather nasty neighbor
for over a year now" Randall says, "I didnt need to look very far for my
prime suspect. Randall believed he knew who the perpetrator was, but without any hard
evidence, there was very little the police would or could do. So the way Randall saw it,
he could camp out in his car all night, or put the X10 NightOwl to work for him. Obviously the
NightOwl was the better choice.
Randall hung the NightOwl in his yard where he could get a good look at the car, and
waited. As luck would have it, he didnt have to wait very long. It was only too soon
and he had his perpetrator on tape, in the act of slashing the tires. Armed with that
information, he was able to convince the police to do something. They could not tell
conclusively who the person was on the tape (the desperado was wearing a ski mask, and
running around in bare feet. Look suspicious?), but they agreed to run the fingerprints.
And the tape is down at the crime lab where it is right now being analyzed.
But the story doesnt end there. The police were astonished at the quality of the
image from the camera. They said it was better than the ones they use in their cruisers.
"Needless to say" Randall said, "I was so pleased that I bought four
more cameras and the motion detection equipment. I have complete surveillance of my
property from the comfort of my bedroom. And all for under $300.00.
Well, were glad to help. And if the police department would like to give us a
call, we could get them a really good deal too.
