Chasing Two Young Children ... Need Help!
September 26, 2001 -
As just about any action movie would point out, life is about the chase. Were constantly on the go, chasing something, whether its extra money, extra time, that elusive "second wind" or the even more elusive "bad guy." Life is the chase. And thats true in the home as well. Theres chasing down the kids, chasing down the lights that have been left on, chasing down whoever keeps turning up the heater, chasing down ways to keep that electric bill down. Sometimes this chase can get downright exhausting, only to show up at night when we dream of either chasing something, or being chased ourselves.
Angela Lyons has her share of chasing. A working, single mother of two young children, and first time homeowner, she knows all about the chase. Shes chasing the kids and the time to be with them, shes chasing the means to keep up with the bills, the babysitter, and just about everything else that comes to her. But she does have one form of support. Thats because she scraped together a little money and purchased ActiveHome for her new house.
"I have to say," she says, "ever since I purchased my ActiveHome Kit I am now in control of my house instead of my house in control of me!" Thanks to ActiveHome, she confesses "there is no need to chase all over the house to see what lights my kids left on." With her super remote in hand, she can stand anywhere in the house and simply "point and click." With the touch of a button she can make sure that all the lights have been turned off. If she falls asleep in the chair after putting the kids down (which she does from time to time), she doesnt have to get up and turn the lights out. She keeps that remote with her at all times. Its like her sidearm. "Even when I fall asleep, ActiveHome does not."
ActiveHome has also helped her get the kids excited about conservation. Thanks to the remote, the kids have no problems turning off the lights. "They like to as a matter of fact." Its the technology that makes it so much fun. Her kids have even begun to experiment with new ways to program macros in the software. "Why is it so much easier for the kids to figure this out then me?" she asks. But thanks to the patience of her kids, shes learning more about the computer than she ever thought she could.
That ActiveHome 6-in-1 Remote Control of hers has definitely become her favorite part of the ActiveHome kit.
Its so flexible that it "not only controls my x10 products but the TV, the Stereo, and the VCR. You get the picture," she says.
What Angela likes most about the ActiveHome kit is that it makes her life just a little bit easier, and gives her just a little more time to enjoy her children. "After all," she says, "Nothings more important than my kids, and nothings more important for me than to be there with them." Angela sure has lucky kids, and X10 is glad to help make family life just a little easier.
