View your garden from a new angle! Train Cam!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stand in a giant
locomotive as it raced down the tracks? That’s one of those experiences that very few
of us have ever had, or ever will have. But there’s something so very romantic about
the idea. Riding off into the unknown, seeing the world around us, and listening to the
hypnotic sound of the clickety-clack of the train as it travels over the track. And what
if that world were in your own back yard?
Joan Weiss, an X10 customer had the notion of being able to view her
garden from a train. That’s right, a train. "My garden is about ninety feet by
ninety feet, and I have a pond with a waterfall and gold fish" Joan says. "I
have several lighted buildings in the garden as well." And running through that, is a
"G" scale train set.
Joan has built up her own community with city and lights, and countryside and
waterfalls. Even a little "wildlife." And the train makes its way through the
garden like Amtrak through the Rockies. Joan uses the XCam II with battery pack, and has
one mounted to her steam locomotive, and one mounted to her diesel. So she can sit back
and view the landscape of her "creation" as a resident of the garden rather than
its creator; riding the rails of her garden as long as she wants. And if she wants, she
can capture the whole thing on videotape so she can take the experience with her
everywhere she goes.
"I also have a train running around the living room wall," she says. "I
will install two cameras in that train. One in the locomotive, and one in the caboose
looking forward." Now she can have a front and back view.
All aboard… XCam is departing the station!
