In this world of "faster—quicker—less is more—5 minutes in the microwave" technology, we seem to have less time to spend with those that we love. In this age of advanced technology we're finding ourselves running faster with less time, and further away from those we love.  It’s no longer unusual to live at least half a planet away from those "closest" to us.

But Brian Smith found a way, using X10 technology, to bring his family a little closer together. Brian lived in the US, and his uncle lived in Hong Kong. And they had not seen each other in over four years. Not to mention that fact that Brian had never seen his new aunt (his uncle married while in Hong Kong). Brian set up XRay Vision at his home in the US, and sent the hardware to his uncle’s house in Hong Kong.

Brain set up an XCam wireless camera in his computer room, and attached the wireless receiving unit to his USB port, and then installed the free software on the PC. From there, he could send pictures up to his website, and his uncle could send pictures up to the same website. And it’s one-one hundredth of the cost of a phone call.

Thanks to XRay Vision, Brian has now seen his new aunt, and his uncle’s home. And his uncle has seen how Brian has grown and changed over the past four years. Says Brian, "I don’t feel so far away anymore." So in these times of "faster—quicker—less is more," with those "closest" to us living halfway across the globe, X10 is helping bring families together.
