Reef Tank Relief
By Richard J. Schmidt |
As some of you may know, an aquarium hobby exists that is quite expensive, chemically technical, and time sensitive. It is called the salt water reef tank. This aquarium, unlike others, is not about the fish you see (though they are there so your eye has something to look at), but rather about the coral and biological life you don't see unless you look for it (shrimps, crabs, starfish and other creatures I have no idea how to name).
As I said, it is time sensitive, and trying to use mechanical timers was just was not working. I looked on the web for an interface that would keep all timers in sync, but for less than thousands, it just didn't exist. My loss of aquarium life expenses were mounting to the point that my wife told me that unless I got it under control, the aquarium was going to go, I was going to go, or I would have to start advertising for the sale of the most expensive yard fertilizer in the world (my dead coral and fish). Enter X10. On a whim, I decided to give this a try. What did I have to lose? As it turns out, this system has gotten all my pumps, chemical injectors, and lights running off the same time page, and a hobby that was costing me literally thousands is now making me money. My corals are so happy with life that they are propagating at a rate that I can now SELL them to local aquarium shops.
Thanks X10! Not only did you save my hobby, you saved my blissful marriage, and now I am allowed to go to a larger tank (thanks to the money your system has made me).
I look forward to the need for more modules for the increase in hardware required for the new tank. Oh, and by the way my wife says we should look at a security system for the new outdoor spa we have just installed, along with putting all our outside lights on X10 modules. Maybe you sold more than one person on your product with my trying your system on a whim.
Thanks Again,
Richard J. Schmidt
