The XCam2 Goes Bump in the Night
July 23, 2001 -
"Vestigia was created in 1976 by IBM computer scientist and NASA Apollo Project Engineer Robert Jones" according to their website, to "scientifically examine reports of UFOs, Bigfoot, ghosts & poltergeists and earth light mysteries." The word Vestigia comes from the word vestige, which means traces, marks, or visible signs left by something vanished or lost. After the untimely death of Robert Jones in 1991, Peter Jordan and John H. Berkenbush reorganized the group and now continue Bobs work in investigating the paranormal. Vestigia is known for being professional, scientific, and technical when it comes to dealing with the world of mystery beyond our world. To date they are the most respected organization of their kind in the country because of their technological approach. A technological approach that brought them to X10 and the wireless XCam2.
As John Berkenbush put it, "The X10 camera system was the perfect solution to a nagging problem of carrying heavy expensive video equipment and the associated wire and cabling to set up on site." When Vestigia goes to a location, it requires that they set up surveillance equipment, which means stringing wires around the place that theyre investigating. But often times, when theyre investigating a private residence or establishment, their hosts specifically request that they dont string too much wire around the location. So that means that John and his group often have to get very creative when it comes to setting up the equipment. "To go wireless was costly for us" John says. "So many times we would have to set up with one camera if we were lucky. I showed the X10 camera system to the group, and they were speechless." Now the group can set up four cameras with motion detection on two security cameras, have a video recorded tied in to acts as a surveillance recorder, and leave the system to monitor the site while they are doing other things. According to John, "This feature alone allows us more freedom to do a more complete analysis of the data collected from an investigation site."
Time and manpower are also key elements in their investigations, and that means "The X10 system allows us to have extra time to be more professional when onsite." Setting up and tearing down the equipment can be the most cumbersome part of the investigations. But now, it doesnt have to be. They can go, quickly install the equipment and then most of their time can be spent analyzing data, conducting experiments, and whatever else goes into the unique job of exploring the netherworld.
Ghosts, Poltergeists, UFOs Earth Mysteries, and crypto zoology are all subjects that are near and dear to Vestigia. And they are also things that leave their marks on the world of the living. And thats where Vestigia goes, whenever theres a trace of those otherworldly elements.
So now if you log on to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Vestigia, you will no doubt be amazed at what you find there. Youll find out more about scientific anomalies then you knew were possible. And youll find that X10 is right there on the forefront of the latest technology to "boldly go where no man has gone before." Okay, where humankind has gone before, but has never returned. To boldly go where every human has gone, or will go."
