 | X10 & DynaVox 3100
By Robert Stark |
I have been helping my daughter's handicapped 13 year old classmate. She was in an automobile accident and has brain and spinal cord injuries. She cannot speak and has slight use of her left arm.
She recently got a DynaVox 3100 communication augmentation computer. She is learning to "speak" with the aid of the computer. The DynaVox has an IR command section. I have purchased an IR543 X10 Command Receiver. It receives IR X10 commands and translates them to Power Line commands.
She is now able to control room lighting through X10 Lamp Modules. She was thrilled at her new-found ability to independently control her environment. The IR port on her computer is her gateway to "independence"!
Sincerely,
Robert Stark
