XCam High-School Reunion
Twenty years is a long time, and its an especially long time from high school
graduation, through college, and into that career. A lot happens in those twenty years.
Thats why reunions are so much fun. We get to see whos gained weight,
whos lost weight, whos lost their hair, whos working where, who made
it, who didnt, and whatever became of you-know-who? And dont forget the camera.
Youre going to need lots and lots of pictures of your excursion. Youll also
want to get that on video. Theres a lot of ground to cover in just a short period
of time, and so you want to be free to spend the time with your "friends," not
lugging some camera around just so you will have some "new" memories on top of
the "old" memories that you already had. How complicated.
Melinda Martin wrote and told us about her alma mater, and their ingenious
plan for their twenty-year reunion. The Great Lakes High School Class of 1981 decided that
it might be a fun idea to videotape the events of their reunion, and sell the videos to
the reunion attendees. Of course they only really wanted to recoup the cost, and make a
little extra to help pay for the reunion, they werent looking to make a big buck.
In the interest of expense, they discovered that they could save a lot of
money and time by not hiring a videographer. Instead, they bought several of the XCam2 WideEyes, and put them up at different locations
in the gymnasium where they were holding their special "awards ceremonies." You
know, "the award for the most changed over the years," "the award for the
least changed over the years," and the list goes on.
"No one likes being hounded by a cameraman," Melinda said.
"I liked the idea of placing several cameras at the dinner/dance, and then selecting
the best shots for the reunion website." Melinda had a lot of reasons to like the
idea, as she was on the reunion committee, and she was therefore responsible to help make
many of the decisions.
And she also had another reason for using the XCam2 WideEyes, as she told
us. "All those who couldnt attend, or were too shy, could still 'see their
old classmates either by buying the video, or watching it live over the reunions
website."
What an idea. A class reunion that can be seen live all over the planet on
the Internet, and taped and enjoyed at a later date. All without having to hire a
cameraman. Thats why XCam2 is such a great addition to any reunion.
