Beyond The Walls
Throughout the years, weve seen some interesting uses of the XCam2, but heres
one that certainly stands out.
One of our customers has found the NightWatch
and the EagleEye Motion Sensors to be an invaluable tool
for her protection and security and peace of mind. Marie Connors told us that just a short time
ago, her state opened up a maximum-security prison in her "back yard" so to speak.
Needless to say, that has had her and the rest of the neighborhood more than a little worried.
Its one thing to know that crime and criminals exist, but its quite another to have
them living just a few yards away. Even if the state can "guarantee your safety," there
have been too many close calls and too many mishaps to allow you to feel safe at any given
moment.
So Marie had only a few choices at her disposal. She could pick up and move, but
try selling a house that close to a prison; She could run outside every fifteen minutes to see
that "nobody was in the yard;" She could leave the local news on twenty-four-seven;
Or, she could ride it out and hope that nothing happened. But not being one to stick her head
in the sand, Marie decided that X10 might just be able to help her out in her dilemma.
Marie purchased the NightWatch camera, several EagleEye motion sensors, and the RoboDog. With the NightWatch, she could keep a constant
vigil on her yard, even in very low-light conditions. With the motion sensors around the yard, she could
tell if anything was out in the yard. Those few precious moments could be very helpful if she
did have to make an emergency phone call. And the RoboDog would make an awful barking noise
should it actually detect motion. "A lot of people are still very much afraid of
dogs," Marie told us, "and Im hoping that goes for criminals too."
"I cant really say if its working," Marie told us,
"But it sure does give me a little bit of peace of mind." And thats what this
is all about - peace of mind. Perhaps Marie could let her neighbors in on her solutions, so
they can set up a "Neighborhood Watch." That way all the neighbors could be watching
their property, and therefore staying one step ahead of the system.
