Eyes Without a Face
Well it's official, spring is here, and that means it's time to start spring house cleaning. As the weather warms up, all those little "chores" we didn't do because it was too wet or too cold start showing up. The gutters need to be cleaned, there's probably some repainting that needs to be done, the plastic has to come off the windows and the windows need to be cleaned, the yard needs attention, and the list goes on.
Jesse Harris was one such person with a list of spring chores that seemed to take on a life of their own. He had a lot to do before summer, and he found a very unique way to put the XCam2 to use with some of his projects.
Let's start out with the gutters. Cleaning the gutters can be a difficult task, especially since you can't get to them easily. But Jesse had an idea. He took the XCam2 with the battery pack, attached it to a long pole, and aimed the lens so he could see at an angle. Then he took his new tool and walked around the house holding the pole over the gutters. "From there I watched the tape, and I knew exactly what it was going to take." And lucky for Jesse he did, because it turned out that the job was going to be much more difficult than he was really ready to do all by himself. So he had to call in a professional.
But that's not all Jesse did. Once he'd gotten his setup, he figured he might as well use it in other ways as well. "I found it invaluable for inspecting difficult and small places," he said. "I used it all over the house and it saved me all kinds of scrapes and cuts trying to get into places where I couldn't reach."
Jesse even used it in his garage. "I couldn't find my tools, and I didn't want to go climbing around up in the rafters and shelves." So he pulled out his XCam2 attached to the pole, and walked around the garage holding the camera over the shelves. He looked at the tape and saw what needed to be done in reorganizing his shelves. Again, he decided that that wasn't a job he wanted to do alone. "I figured this would be a good father-son bonding thing," Jesse said, "so he and I spent some time in the garage working and cleaning it up. It was a good day."
Jesse's son liked the camera so much that he's taken to using it to spy on his brother and sister. With the XCam2 attached to the pole, it goes around corners and down hallways, and makes the perfect "spycam."
So thanks to the XCam2 Jesse and his family have the freedom to see above and beyond what their eyes alone can see.
