Kids Are Home Safe!
By Kirk Hand |
I have two girls that come home from school at a certain time every day. The oldest is responsible enough to be at home and babysit herself and the younger one for a couple hours until I get home. I kept telling her to call me as soon as she got home so I would have the peace of mind knowing she made it home safe, but she was constantly forgetting to call me.
I set up a camera and the wireless transmitter, along with software that allows me to be emailed when motion is detected and to view live video of the motion on any system with Internet access. Now when she gets home I get an email and can view the live video for a couple seconds of her in the living room watching TV.
The coolest part of the whole thing is I have a new device called the Hiptop/SideKick by Danger Inc. along with cell phone service through T-mobile, which is always on Web/Instant Messenger. I can use it to view the live video from my house so, even if I'm on the road stuck in traffic and can't get to a PC, I still get emailed on my Sidekick and can use the Web feature on it to see that they are indeed home safe.
Sincerely,
Kirk Hand
