ActiveHome Makes Mom's Life Easier By Daniel L. Eger

My story about X10 products is a simple one. My Mom had a stroke back in 1992 and it left her right side paralyzed. Because of the stroke it's hard for her to look up for light switches. She's only five feet tall to begin with. So, to make her life a little easier I used a lamp with a switch on the cord and taped the switch to her hospital bed remote. This worked for awhile, but every now and then the wire would get tangled in her feet, or worse, get caught in the bed gears.

Then I remembered a gadget I had for my old Commodore computer called an "X10 Home Control Interface". So I went through some boxes and found my old X10 stuff. I found a computer interface with 8 on/off switches, a receiver & 4 button remote, a lamp module and an appliance module. So I set up my Mom's room to turn on/off both lights by remote (no wires).

Of course, that's not enough for me. I had to go out and buy the new X10 ActiveHome set.

Now my Mom is kicking back, flipping channels on the TV, playing with the lights, and I even set up a buzzer on Housecode A16 so in an emergency she can set off an alarm. We have converted all the lights she needs to X10 and she loves it. ( THANK YOU )

All we need now are a couple of cameras (HINT) so my Mom can see who is at the front door from her TV screen, and maybe one for the backyard so she can watch the dogs play.

Anyway, keep making these great products. They're making my life a little easier and my Mom's life a whole lot easier!
