So many campfire stories begin with the phrase "It was a dark and stormy
night." Why is it that everything seems to happen on a "dark and stormy
night?"
Jorge Barrera has a story that begins almost the same way. "It was
a stormy evening as I pulled near my house," he starts out.
Thunderstorms had been pummeling his area for over an hour, and things
didnt look as though they would be getting better any time soon. Only sudden and
bright flashes of lightning lit the darkness, revealing the wind blowing trees around
like dancers at a rave concert. It was the kind of night that makes the pets take cover
under the bed, the kids huddle around their parents, and driving home a real challenge.
When Jorge turned into his driveway, he could see nothing but drops of
water pelting the windshield with no regard whatsoever to how hard his windshield wipers
were working to keep his windshield clear. Before he pulled in, he pressed his X10 Keychain Remote to activate the outdoor lights.
And its a good thing he did.
"Much to my surprise," he says, "a huge pine tree had
fallen across the driveway. Had it not been for ActiveHome, I would really have messed up my car."
But it turns out that his car wasnt the only thing that could have been messed up.
Seeing that he had no choice but to leave his car there and make a dash for it into the
house, he activated the inside lights, and his porch lights. Once he had enough light, he
opened up his car door to jump out and run. When he opened his car door, he spied a
rattlesnake that had been displaced by the rain, flooded out of his home.
"Again," Jorge says, "Had it not been for ActiveHome, I could have been in
serious trouble." So he walked around the snake, and dashed under his covered porch.
He opened the door, and was greeted by the warm comforts of home.
"I'm so happy I bought ActiveHome," Jorge says.
Theres an old saying that our parents used to tell us when we would
get afraid at night. That saying went something like this: "Theres nothing in the
dark that isnt there in the light." The difference is though, in the dark you
cant see whatever "it" is. So let there be light... with ActiveHome.
