The Anaconda Watches the Front Door
Some people can be harder to get gifts for than others, for any number of reasons. David Smith was looking for a Christmas gift for his mother who just happened to be one of those people for whom
it is very hard to shop. Because his mother is bedridden, and because her room is at the back of the house, David decided that he would get her a security camera for the house. "After all" David says, "she has complained many times that it is hard for her to get to the
front door to answer it if the bell rings." And as most of us well know, when that doorbell rings, its usually someone trying to sell us a subscription to a magazine, or offer us the secrets of eternal life.
So this is where the security camera comes in. David thought that if she had a camera at the front door, and connected to her TV, she could see who was at the door when they knocked, and then decide if it was worth all the trouble to get up and answer the door.
"I went all over town looking for a solution" David recalls, "and found a black and white system at the local electronic store for over $200.00. I then went to a security company that gave me a quote of about $1,000.00 for the same setup."
"When I got home I remembered looking at X10 earlier for the DVD Anywhere system. I assumed that they would have a less expensive black and white home security camera system, so I surfed their web site. I found the XCam Anaconda Kit with 60 ft cord system. The Anaconda is a small COLOR camera with all cabling, power and attachments for $39.98."
So for a third of the price David would have paid at his local electronic shop for a black and white camera, he got a complete color camera system instead. "That made a perfect gift for Mom," Dave says.
Then he leaves us with this special thought. "Thanks X10... Ill be back for more in the future."
