XCam2 Spots the Bad Apple
Weve
read about high "crime neighborhoods," and the "wrong side of the tracks," but
most of the people that write in to X10 regarding vandals and theft are from low crime neighborhoods.
The neighborhood is fine, these residents just happen to find themselves next to or near that
"one bad apple."
One X10 customer, KC Cavazos, writes "Actually I live in a very peaceful
neighborhood since it happens to be in a RV park area." He tells us that there are a lot of
retired people "from the north" as KC puts it that settle down in this community and are
just looking for peace and quiet. They are friendly, and respectful, and they all get along.
But as we said earlier, theres always that one. That one, according to KC is
a 26 year old who lives right next to him. KC says, "Ive lived in this neighborhood for
five years and never, until a few months ago, have I felt so unsafe about leaving my property
alone."
This person has been seen breaking into other RV trailers, but there has never been
any evidence to prove it, and so theres nothing the police can do. (Thats another phrase
that we hear often from our customers.) The residents of the park all pitched in and hired a security
guard to watch the park, but theres only so much that a security guard can do. The guards
first priority is usually to monitor the front gate, and when he gets a chance, he can take an
occasional look around the park.
But thanks to X10, KC has another security guard, right in his home. And this time,
if anything happens, he will have the proof. KC hooked up the XCam2 and the HawkEye Motion
Sensor to his RV so that he can leave his RV in peace. "This way I know who has been on my
property and for what purpose," he says.
So far all is well. XCam2 is watching over him. But he makes a very good point.
"We need to start to fight back. Not with violence, but with technology."
