XCam2 Saves the Grain
We often
hear about crime in our cities. In some instances, cities have become synonymous with many unlawful
and egregious acts. In many of our articles we have done stories that dealt with "crime in our
cities." But what do you do when crime happens in rural areas which it does just as certainly?
In the small town of Sheffield Alabama, Bill Greer had a friend who was having a
problem with crime. Her particular problem was that someone was stealing her grain. According to
Bill, she lived outside of town, owned a farm, and "she stored the grain to feed her
horses."
Here was someone who lived in a nice and quiet rural area, and even there, someone
was stealing from her. There wasnt any practical way of finding who was doing this because
it was such a big, open area. And the animals themselves couldnt talk... (as far as we know).
So how was she going to catch the crook?
Thats when Bill got inspired. He hooked up two XCam2s to the front of his friends barn so she could monitor
everything that came and went from her living room, or from any television on her property. And then
he connected the cameras to her VCR. After showing her how everything worked, they had nothing left
to do but wait. And they didnt have to wait long.
Low and behold, it took only two days to catch the crook.
"It was a neighbor and friend," Bill reports. "So no legal action was
taken, but the neighbor was confronted with the tape and restitution was made."
We dont know how the whole scene went down, but it appears that X10 helped
solve a crime, and yet protect a relationship. Sometimes, and with some people more than others, we
just need a little "help" staying honest.
