In July of last year, Marie Potts’ only son, Eric, was paralyzed while playing Lacrosse, in a Delaware men’s league. At 21, an accident of this magnitude seemed almost inconceivable. With so much still ahead of him, this event would literally change the rest of his life. Eric turned 22 in September. "Needless to say" Marie says, "This catastrophic accident has changed our lives."

Eric has become what is described as a c-5/6 quad, which means that he will only have the use of his wrists, and he will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

From July to December, Eric underwent extreme physical therapy. Then about one week before Christmas, Eric was released from the hospital. So to help Eric out, Marie installed ActiveHome and set it up to fit their appliances.

First off, Marie wanted to make Eric’s return home special. So the family set up the Christmas Tree in Eric’s room. When he entered his new handicapped accessible room for the first time, the tree lit up, and his stereo began playing Christmas music. "Christmas has always been joyous" Marie says, "but this Christmas just for Eric to be able to be independent in our home is the best Christmas present I can ever give or receive. And it’s because of ActiveHome."

So Eric’s Christmas has been a little different than he had originally planned, but he’s going to find a way to stay self-sufficient. And ActiveHome is going to be there to help.
